How to read Chinese online
|
For Windows Win3.X, Win9x or WinNT users, you have at least two options:
- Install Microsoft Multilanguage Support for Internet Explorer. To do so,
change to the desired encoding and the browser will do the rest.
- Use one of the external viewers. NJStar Communicator is highly recommended.
MagicWin 98
is also a great alternative, too bad that it does not support Windows NT. :-(

For X-Win users, there is a nice and free UNIX(It was tested on Solaris, Irix,
and HP-UX, but may not work on some other UNIX variations) shell script called
bighead
to grab Chinese gb/big5 fonts for Netscape2.0 or higher versions from an site on the Internet, authored by
Beichuan Zhang.
To install, put it into your home directory, set the permission to be executable and run.

For Mac users, quit the stupid system, and convert to Win or X-Win. :-) |
